Emotions and Self Empowerment

Self-empowerment requires effort. No one else can do it for you. You have to get out of bed and expend some effort. Self-empowerment means finding and fully experiencing your own personal power. Many people feel overwhelmed by negative emotions from their past and present such as guilt, shame, fear, and anger. Are negative emotions overpowering you? You can take charge and change that scenario if you’re willing to work a little.

It’s really a simple shift from Left Brain linear thinking to Right Brain…

spiral thinking. The Left Brain tends to be REACTIVE. The Right Brains leans towards the CREATIVE. But when we get stuck in our human responses, reaction usually takes precedence over creative problem solving. Yet notice the two possible responses. The letters are the same, only shifted around. The choice is yours. Let’s look at a couple of ways to create a shift in your perspective.

First of all, take these basic steps:

· Identify the emotion you’re currently stuck in.
· Step out of the situation and examine it as an objective observer.
· Realize that most “negative” emotional responses are fear-based and take on a different mask.
· Seek the positive aspect of the negative emotion.

Anger: Feel it. See the color green. Place your hands lovingly over your liver just under the ribcage on the right side. Breathe deeply through your nose and exhale the sound Chhhhhhhhh. Feel yourself looking objectively at the situation in question. Now focus on kindness. Towards yourself, your liver, the situation. How can you demonstrate kindness instead of anger? Especially to yourself? Why is your anger button being activated? Can you make some connection? Remove yourself as much as possible from the situation that’s stimulating an anger response if that’s your only option. You can’t change or fix everything. Only yourself.

Fear: Look for the color royal blue. Your kidneys are involved so talk to them lovingly. Shift over to a feeling of courage. Be your own compassionate hero. Can you find a way to see yourself as the courageous spiritual warrior? Remember the battle is always with the Self. Make the sound Shhhhhhh.

Grief: White is the color. Lungs are the organ. The emotion you want to shift into is inspiration. Inspire yourself in this situation. Move out of the sadness after fully experiencing and embracing it. It will pass. Learn from it. Hiss like an angry cat from the back of your throat.

Trapped: If you feel there’s no way out of a given situation, sniff through your nostrils seven times before exhaling and imagine the color amber. The organs involved are the guts, your intestinal tract. Basically, you’re emotionally constipated! Shift to a feeling of freedom. Your freedom is always within you no matter what your situation. Seek it and it will find you.

Rejection or abandonment: When hateful or resentful feelings arise, embrace them. They’re real and must be acknowledged. Feel how much energy it takes to hold that emotion. Lovingly embrace the feeling and then shift to a focus of unconditional love, especially towards your Self! See the color red, like a valentine. Breathe deeply and exhale with the word HO seven times before taking another breath.

Nobody is perfect. We’re all works in progress and the most important thing is forgiveness. Forgiving others frees us to love others and ourselves. They don’t even have to know you’ve forgiven them. They might not even appreciate your forgiveness. It’s not about them. It’s about you and your spiritual growth. Own it.

Breathe deeply and often and love and forgive yourself and others. Your self-empowerment and growth as a spiritual warrior will accelerate rapidly! More power to you!
