Professional Member - Elizabeth Buonomo

Elizabeth A. Buonomo was introduced to the Alexander Technique through dance at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she received her bachelor’s degree.  She was inspired to become an Alexander teacher because of her deep love of movement and her desire to work with her hands helping people free themselves of the limiting habits of the body and mind.

Elizabeth graduated from the three-year teacher certification program at the American Center for the Alexander Technique in New York City in 1993, and has a full-time private practice in Closter, New Jersey, and in New York City. She works in the physical therapy office of both Jackie Ross, P.T., in New York City, and of Roy Capellaro, P.T., in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

Elizabeth was on the faculty of The Acting Studio, Inc., in New York City for four years.  She has also taught extensively in Linz, Austria, as well as in Japan and Switzerland.  In addition to her Alexander work, Elizabeth is currently pursuing a master’s degree in social work.

Elizabeth is a member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT).  AmSAT-certified teachers are highly trained professionals who have completed a 1600-hour training program over a period of at least three years.   AmSAT establishes and maintains the nation’s highest standards for teacher training, certification, and membership.
